The Best Vacation Condo Rental
on the Best Beach
on the Best Island in the World!

So say many people who live on Maui. They should know, as does the readers of Conde Naste Magazine whom have selected Maui as the best Island in the world for twelve years running!

Aloha to the Maui Mana Kai #215 website.

Maui, in Hawaiian, is called "na ka oi" or in English that means "The Best!" "Mana" means "Spirit" and "Kai" means "Sea." So Maui Mana Kai means the best vacation condo rental in Hawaii. You simply get more for your money. Period.

In the next few paragraphs, we will answer your top questions about location, looks, availability, rates and more.

And for more resources for your trip like finding the lowest cost air fares,

Where is the Mana Kai Located?

The Mana Kai is located at 2960 S. Kihei Road, which is right on the border with world famous Wailea and all their overpriced five star hotel resorts. By the way, 90% of the vacation rentals on Maui are individually owned and rented condos.

The Mana Kai has 98 of them. Their floor layouts are all the same. The 2 bedroom units have a total of about 850 square feet. The rooms can also be rented separately as a one bedroom with the oceanfront lanai (that means deck or balcony) and full kitchen or as a "hotel" room which is the second bedroom. This is done with the magic of what is called a "lockout". There is a locked common front door and seperate locked doors for the one bedroom and for the hotel room. The hotel rooms are all on the side of the building away from the ocean. In summary you can rent both rooms together as the two bedroom or just the one bedroom or just the hotel room. The one bedroom can sleep 2 on the king size Select Comfort Air adjustable bed and two more on a king size high end sofabed. The two beds are seperated by Japanese style "shoji" doors which offer visual privacy but not audio. The second bedroom or "hotel" room also has a king size Select Comfort Air adjustable bed but, upon request, it can be split into two twin beds.

How Close is the Ocean to the Mana Kai?

Is about 50 feet close enough? As a result, the view is spectacular and you get a cooling breeze so much so the oceanfront one bedroom side does not need air conditioning.

What Does the Mana Kai and Area Look Like?

What Does #215 Look Like?

Those are actual pictures of the interior and lanai views being shown in the slide show above.

Can I Hear the Ocean?

Yes!

Are there Restaurants Nearby?

Yes, there are two in the building: The Five Palms Restaurant, good food with ocean views, and Zacks, a high end deli and general store.

Sorrentos, a five star restaurant, is literally a short stroll away: Pretend you're going down to the beach, turn left, go 100 feet and you're there. There are many eateries in Kihei town and in neighboring Wailea.

How do I Check Availability?

Three ways:

  1. Click on the "Live Chat" at the top of the page
  2. Or call (408) 426-8215

If 215 is not available, I can check the reservation systems for you of the two largest property managers for about 82 of the other condos available for rent at the Mana Kai. How about that for one stop shopping. Just ask for me to check.

How Much will it Cost?

Click here to check rates depending upon the time of year. The one-bedroom will cost about 2.5 times the hotel room.

Is there a Place to Get Married?

Yes, right on the beach! And I can help your full wedding party and guests get their rooms at the Mana Kai.

Why do I see different rates quoted? What is the Difference Between the Quality Levels of Superior, Deluxe and Standard?

Because all of the rentals are NOT of the same quality. They break into three categorys.

  • Standard: Furnishings/appliances may be older, although everything works and is clean)
  • Deluxe (renovated within the last 5 yrs);
  • Superior (renovated within the last 5 yrs, highly upgraded with granite countertops, high quality cabinetry, ceramic tile floor, etc.

I call 215 a Superior Plus because of all the extras above and beyond a Superior.

What is the Beach Like? Snorkeling? Golf? Shopping?

Best beach in the world. It gently slopes with the softest sand you have ever felt. You can stroll down the beach for about one and a half miles. Snorkeling is great right there at the Mana Kai. Multiple championship golf courses are within five miles and so are multiple shopping centers.

Ocean and Haleakala Mountain Views Provided

The Mana Kai Maui is a 98 unit building built in 1973 by a group of United Airlines pilots who were familiar with Maui. Site lines from the rooms are perfect. Suite 215 is on the second floor. High enough to see the ocean but not so high to lose the intimacy of the lush tropical vegetation. If such a building was proposed to be built today, we are told permits would not be allowed. The Maui Mana Kai is about 50 feet from the ocean, as you can see from the WebCam. Looking to the left from the lanai, sweeping up 180 degrees you can see Haleakala, especially beautiful at sunrise. No roads separate you from the ocean, which means no road noise.

Lush Tropical Vegetation Provided

Suite 215 is on the second floor. High enough to see the ocean looking to the right and then sweeping 180 degrees you can see Haleakala too. But not so high to lose the intimacy of the lush tropical vegetation. If such a building was proposed to be built today, we are told permits would not be allowed. The Maui Mana Kai is very close to the ocean, as you can see from the WebCam. About 50 feet so you get the cooling ocean breeze and can hear the wave action all the time. No road separates the Mana Kai from the ocean, as compared to most rental condos in Maui.

But don't worry, the magical island of Maui has never been hit by a hurricane!

Sounds of the Ocean to Lull you to Sleep, Provided

As stated earlier, Mana Kai means "Spirit of the Sea". The story says it was an area of ancient sanctuary for Hawaiians who were in trouble. If they went here, they would be safe. So will you. Safe to sleep while the waves lap on the shore. The Maui Mana Kai also served as a debarkation point for cattle being moved from Maui to Kaho'olawe. The remains of the dock are sometimes visible during short periods when it is not covered by sand.
